✨ Narration 5: Christ, Our Hope Today – The Story of ‘I Heard the Bells’
“The message of Christmas is not only found in the past—it is a living message of peace and hope today. In 1863, American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was grieving the loss of his wife and had just learned that his son was severely wounded in the Civil War. On Christmas Day, he heard church bells ringing and wrote: ‘And in despair I bowed my head; “There is no peace on earth,” I said; For hate is strong and mocks the song of peace on earth, good will to men.’ Yet as the bells continued to ring, his faith was renewed. ‘Then pealed the bells more loud and deep: “God is not dead, nor doth He sleep; The wrong shall fail, the right prevail, with peace on earth, good will to men.”’Christ is the source of that peace. He is the reason we can have hope today—in the midst of sorrow, conflict, and uncertainty.”
Musical Number #5: Choir: “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day”
✨ Narration 6: The Living Christ
“Though He was born in a humble stable, Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of the world. He is not only the child of Bethlehem He is the Risen Lord, who invites all to come unto Him. His birth and life continue to bless the world with light, love, and eternal hope.”
